All right...

What is Asgard?

Is that someplace in Africa that I missed on a map?

[identity profile] x-borealis.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I know this one!

It's a place, far away, that I come from. But not. People there generally have pointed ears and short tempers. Or are just plain short. Occasionally someone gets set on fire.

[identity profile] x-scarletwitch.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Getting set on fire sounds painful. Thankfully you said it was only occasionally.

Or are tall, cranky and have short tempers.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-borealis.livejournal.com 2004-10-03 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose we could just shorten to, and come in many shapes in sizes, all with short tempers.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-tarot.livejournal.com 2004-10-03 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
Also, colours. Some of them were grey-green and -very- ugly.

I do not like goblins.

Re: ...

[identity profile] x-borealis.livejournal.com 2004-10-03 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
I was getting that feeling, yes. If it makes you feel any better, I'm not sure anyone likes goblins.

Even goblins aren't overly fond of goblins.

Alternate plane of existence. Realm of the Norse gods. Pain in my arse.

Take your pick.

...oh my...

[identity profile] x-scarletwitch.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
So, not Africa. Got it.

Pain in your arse? Remind me _not_ to go there.

Re: ...oh my...

[identity profile] x-snowflake.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it wasn't so bad if you don't count the war, violence, awful furry animals, vengeful gods, manipulative gods, lack of decent food or company, abundance of male facial hair (no, boys, it was not attractive on you, either), and irritating jumped-up sorceresses.

The scenery, for example, was often quite nice.

[identity profile] x-scarletwitch.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I find that as long as the scenery is nice, a good number of times you can ignore everything else.

Well, most of the time anyway. And I'm going to assume you meant furry animals as in woodland creatures and not those bizarre people dressed up _as_ furry animals, correct?

[identity profile] x-snowflake.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, mostly the scenery was nice, so if you find yourself there, you might just concentrate on that. It will probably distract you nicely from the men with swords and idiots with both ale and swords and such.

I know nothing of people dressing up as furry animals, nor, I think, do I want to. Lots of mangy wolves, ugly horses (one with wings), the occasional bird . . . oh, and I almost mistook some of my esteemed classmates for one or the other on several occasions. Hygiene was not really at a premium.

[identity profile] x-rahne.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, one of your classmates really was one of the furry animals....

And I did not get fleas. *smug* ;)

[identity profile] x-snowflake.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you got to run around with a bunch of wolves for a couple of months. I'm sure that was intellectually and emotionally stimulating.

I think, on balance, I'd pick Hel.

[identity profile] x-rahne.livejournal.com 2004-10-02 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't. Works out nicely, doesn't it?

I do not think Jamie -or- Doug thought their beards were attractive at all actually. Doug certainly complained about his enough.

Speak for yourself...

Loki set a very good table when he put his mind to it, and the first thing he did was give me a runestone so I didn't grow a beard.

Amanda cancelled that spell right before we went home, hence the - what did Jubilation call it? Right - the Grizzly Adams Spaniard.

Um, oops?

The uncursing was pretty general, and I was carrying a fair bit of power. Didn't realise anti-facial hair charms were included in that...

Re: Speak for yourself...

[identity profile] x-empath.livejournal.com 2004-10-04 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
I don't blame anyone for any of that.

Put your mind at ease.

Mind at ease...

[personal profile] xp_daytripper 2004-10-04 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
And hey, it took off all the other curses, including certain ones I might have put on. Although Lee was pretty pissed off that I'd de-pixied her...

Re: Mind at ease...

[identity profile] x-empath.livejournal.com 2004-10-04 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
It did at that.

And I still have my runestones, so it's not like I had everything taken away.

You'd like one of them - it keeps me warm no matter how cold it is outside. The other is what let me speak and understand Ancient Norse.

The scenery would have been nice...

[personal profile] xp_daytripper 2004-10-03 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
... If _my_ irritating jumped-up sorceress hadn't kept me inside for the whole three months. Which was more annoying than the brain-washing, in a way...

Asgard (http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/europe/norse/articles.html)

Also a new and interesting summer vacation local, complete with questing, swords, dwarves, and boyfriends who get spears through their legs.

Why do you ask?

Boyfriends who...

[identity profile] x-scarletwitch.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Did he learn not to get stabbed? Sharp objects are not good in one's flesh. Well, most of them anyway.

Overhead in a conversation today and when I asked, was told it would be more fun to ask this way.

Re: Boyfriends who...

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Kind of. He's at least learning how to use a sword to keep other people from stabing him.

And is it more fun?

[identity profile] x-scarletwitch.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Preventing is good, yes.

And now that you ask, yes. I am horribly entertained right now. Which is good, considering I am still suffering from jet lag. How can you suffer from jet lag if you were unconscious for the entire flight?

[identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com 2004-10-01 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed it is.

Jet lag is much more to do with time zone difference than it really has to do with the flight. The flight just makes it that much worse, or so I'm told.

[identity profile] x-cypher.livejournal.com 2004-10-03 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Let's see. I think I can sum up the adventures for you.

Everyone else did some stuff. I got the girl, saved the day, and got to fly. Roll credits. ;-)
